Survey Says: Internet to Help With Aging and Caregiving

Early reports from an online national survey on aging conducted by CommonHealth Action indicate that approximately one-third of the U.S. adults queried plan to take care of themselves but 90 percent “expect the internet and social networking” to help. Others said they expected to rely on a partner or spouse (18%), children other relatives or friends (21%) ; paid professional help (11%) and the remaining 4% didn’t think they would be able to afford care.

Most (54%) were not confident the federal government would be able to help.  Of those surveyed seventy-nine percent were women and twenty-one percent men. Ages ranged from 18 to 65+.

The full survey report is scheduled to be released in August and available from CHA website.
